The nonprofit affiliated with "Three Cups of Tea" author Greg Mortenson won a $1.2 million settlement from a Tokio Marine North America Inc. insurer accused of ducking the $2 million defense bill from a consumer class action over Mortenson's alleged fabrications and a state probe into misuse of funds, the group's attorney said Friday.

The nonprofit affiliated with maligned "Three Cups of Tea" author Greg Mortensen lodged a suit against Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Co. in Montana federal court Wednesday demanding defense coverage for a class action and a state investigation over the author's alleged false claims and misuse of funds.
