A California federal judge on Friday ruled that an inventor of network firewall technology was too late in filing his claim that Palo Alto Networks Inc. stole his trade secrets, finding that the inventor had known about the theft since at least 2006.

A California federal judge on Thursday refused to dismiss claims that Palo Alto Networks Inc. stole trade secrets from a rival firewall technology inventor, saying the inventor had sufficiently alleged the information was protected when the company used it to apply for a competing patent.
