A Massachusetts federal judge on Wednesday threw out a lawsuit brought against Amazon.com Inc. for allegedly infringing a patent holding company's protection on semiconductor light-emitting technology through the sale of tablet devices, holding that the asserted claim of the patent at issue is invalid.

Google Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. were hit Thursday with allegations in Massachusetts federal court that their tablet devices, including Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire, infringe a patent holding company's protection on semiconductor light-emitting technology.
