GlaxoSmithKline PLC on Friday escaped a former employee's suit accusing it of offering kickbacks to doctors who pushed unwarranted HIV treatments after a New York federal judge determined the relator failed to show that the purported scheme resulted in fraudulent government health care claims.

GlaxoSmithKline PLC asked a New York federal judge Thursday to dismiss a former employee's suit claiming it paid kickbacks to doctors to induce unwarranted prescriptions of HIV treatments that resulted in fraudulent government health care claims, saying the relator hadn't properly backed his allegations.
