A New Jersey federal judge on Thursday refused to dismiss claims in a putative class action against Geico General Insurance Co. that it failed to inform customers of available uninsured or underinsured coverage, saying the allegations precluded immunity under state law.

Geico General Insurance Co. was hit with a putative class action in New Jersey federal court Friday accusing it of selling car insurance without getting customers' consent for policies that include levels of coverage for collisions with uninsured or underinsured motorists lower than the minimum required under state law.
