DuPont GC Faulted In Suit Over $1B Monsanto Patent Verdict
DuPont Co.'s general counsel directly oversaw the crafting of a 2002 licensing agreement for herbicide-resistant seeds that led to a patent infringement lawsuit by its rival Monsanto Co. and an eventual $1 billion jury verdict, an investor suing the company in a derivative suit told a Delaware federal court Monday.

A DuPont Co. shareholder sprung a derivative suit in Delaware federal court Wednesday over a $1 billion verdict stemming from Dupont's infringement of Monsanto Co.'s patented technology for herbicide-resistant seeds, saying the company board knew a licensing agreement between the rivals did not allow the alleged infringement.
