A lawsuit against rail companies including Consolidated Rail Corp. over a 2012 New Jersey derailment will remain in federal court, after a federal judge denied for the second time in five months the plaintiffs' attempts to move the case to state court based on where the parties are located.

A New Jersey federal judge on Monday remanded a suit by more than a dozen first responders and their families against Consolidated Rail Corp. over a New Jersey train derailment and chemical spill to state court, saying a Pennsylvania plaintiff in the case had not been fraudulently added.
