Unit Drilling Co. has agreed to pay $400,000 to settle allegations by the U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission that the company failed to hire women because of their gender, according to court documents filed on Tuesday.

An Oklahoma federal judge ruled Friday that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission gave proper notice and showed good faith efforts at conciliation in its sex discrimination suit against Unit Drilling Co., denying the company's motion to dismiss the agency's suit.
