A California federal judge on Monday stripped warranty and injunctive relief claims from a putative class action accusing Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and others of deceiving consumers about the efficacy of glucosamine-chondroitin supplements, but left the bulk of the suit intact.

A San Diego man Thursday launched a proposed class action in California federal court accusing Nutramax Laboratories Inc., Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Rite Aid Corp. of falsely advertising that glucosamine-chondroitin tablets ease arthritis symptoms, the latest in a wave of lawsuits questioning the supplement's effectiveness.
