A California federal judge on Monday signed off on a $4.5 million class action settlement to resolve a pair of consolidated suits alleging racket maker Babolat VS North America Inc. used deceptive tactics to sell products endorsed by tennis superstars such as Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick.

Racket maker Babolat VS North America Inc. asked a California federal judge Monday to toss a putative class action accusing the company of deceiving consumers through endorsements by tennis superstars Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick, claiming the plaintiff's interpretation of the ad campaign is excessively literal.
