A California federal judge on Wednesday threw out a lawsuit alleging Google Inc. infringed and diluted Parts.com LLC's trademark by allowing third-party advertisers to use it as a keyword in connection with Google's AdWords program, saying the plaintiff's delay in filing suit was "unreasonable."

Search giant Google Inc. sought Friday to throw out a suit by Parts.com over so-called sponsored advertisements for unrelated firms that appeared near Google search results for Parts.com's name, arguing the automobile parts dealer is two years too late in bringing the suit.

Search giants Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc. were sued in California federal court by a car replacement part business accusing them of allowing so-called sponsored advertisements for unrelated firms and competitors to appear next to results for its name that allegedly misdirect potential customers to those sites.
