$7M Jackson Hewitt Franchise Suit Survives Ch. 11 Discharge
An Oregon franchisee of Jackson Hewitt Inc. can continue with its $7 million contract-breach suit against the nation's second-largest tax preparation service, despite missing a deadline to contest a Chapter 11 bankruptcy discharge of its claims, a New Jersey federal judge ruled Thursday.

Jackson Hewitt Inc. on Friday asked a New Jersey federal judge to dismiss a $7 million suit filed by an Oregon franchisee alleging tortious interference, saying the franchisee’s claims were discharged when it signed a release as part of Jackson Hewitt’s Chapter 11 restructuring.
