At least 16 lawsuits filed against seed giant Monsanto Co. over the appearance of unapproved genetically engineered wheat will be consolidated in Kansas, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation ruled Wednesday.

A group of northwest farmers and a food safety advocate hit Monsanto Co. with putative class actions in Washington on Thursday and Friday over the appearance of unapproved genetically engineered wheat in Oregon crops, which they say depressed wheat prices and chilled international exports.
