Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Visa Inc. have struck an accord in multidistrict antitrust litigation over card-swiping fees, according to a pair of stipulations filed in New York federal court Thursday.

A Wal-Mart Stores Inc. attorney said in Brooklyn on Monday that Visa Inc. rushed to sue the world's largest retailer after it backed out of a proposed $7.25 billion class action settlement over credit card transaction fees in order to gain an unfair advantage in long-running swipe fee antitrust litigation.

Visa USA Inc. sued Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in New York federal court on Wednesday in a bid to block the retail giant from pursuing more damages after opting out of a $7.25 billion antitrust settlement in the interchange fee multidistrict litigation.
