A Washington federal judge on Thursday refused to stop Medicare from expanding a competitive bidding program for purchases of durable medical equipment while a coalition of medical suppliers pursues a challenge to the planned expansion, saying the group has so far given little evidence to back their "flawed" lawsuit.

A group of medical equipment suppliers sued U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in Washington, D.C., federal court on Wednesday to halt the expansion of a competitive bidding program for Medicare's purchases of the durable medical equipment.
