Potter Voice Technologies LLC urged a California federal judge Thursday to rule that Apple Inc.'s attempt to invalidate its patent for using voices to control a computer, which Apple claims is nothing new, is based on a faulty interpretation of the invention.

A California federal judge refused Monday to dismiss Potter Voice Technologies LLC's suit against Apple Inc., saying Potter properly stated a claim for willful and induced infringement by Apple's Siri products of its voice command patent.
