Myriad Genetics Inc. has settled its suit against Gene by Gene Ltd. over alleged infringement of its cancer-testing patents, including several that were upheld in a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision last year, with Gene by Gene agreeing to stop offering the tests in North America, the companies said Friday.

The American Civil Liberties Union was among three amici that filed a brief Wednesday in Utah federal court supporting two companies facing infringement suits from Myriad Genetics Inc. over genetic testing patents, saying the claims were invalid and threatened scientific research.
