A Washington federal judge last week rejected Boston founder Tom Scholz's bid to block former lead singer Fran Cosmo from referring to himself in promotional materials as a past member of the rock band, ruling Scholz failed to show his former bandmate has violated the groups' trademarks.

Boston's former lead singer and his son are infringing a trademark owned by band founder and guitarist Donald Thomas Scholz by using the classic-rock legends' logo to promote their own shows, Scholz alleged in a complaint filed Friday in Washington federal court.
