An Illinois federal judge on Thursday signed off on a joint petition to dismiss with prejudice Motorola Mobility LLC's claims against AU Optronics Corp. as part of its $3.5 billion price-fixing case against several liquid crystal display panel makers.

Motorola's Foreign Injury Claims Against LCD Makers Tossed
An Illinois federal judge on Thursday dismissed most of the antitrust claims brought by Motorola Mobility Inc. against a slew of liquid crystal display makers, including Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Sharp Corp., ruling that U.S. antitrust law doesn't apply to purchases involving foreign subsidiaries.

Japan Attacks Ruling In LCD Price-Fixing MDL
The government of Japan asked an Illinois federal judge on Thursday to reconsider a 2012 summary judgment ruling allowing Motorola Mobility Inc. to to pursue U.S. antitrust claims against a slew of liquid crystal display makers based on purchases of LCD panels by its foreign subsidiaries, saying it violated Japanese sovereignty.
