Yamaha Sinks Boat Engine Corrosion Class Actions
A California federal judge on Wednesday threw out several consolidated proposed class actions accusing Yamaha Motor Corp. USA of selling defective outboard boat motors because the plaintiffs failed to show that Yamaha knew the motors were prone to corrosion.

Yamaha Urges Sinking Of Outboard Motor Class Action
Yamaha Motor Corp. USA urged a California federal judge Monday to toss a putative class action alleging the company sold defective outboard boat motors, arguing that multiple amended pleadings have failed to identify any customers who were actually injured by the alleged defect.

A California federal judge has partially granted a motion to dismiss a proposed class action involving allegedly defective outboard boat motors manufactured by Yamaha Corp., dismissing Yamaha's Japanese unit from the suit and tossing negligence, consumer protection and other claims against the U.S. subsidiary while preserving class allegations.
