A D.C. federal judge on Monday trimmed a former Paul Hastings LLP partner's suit accusing T-Mobile US Inc. of wrongfully dropping his boutique law firm as counsel after T-Mobile merged with MetroPCS Communications Inc., saying D.C. law bars the breach of contract claim.

A boutique law firm whose founder says MetroPCS Communications Inc. wooed him away from a stable partnership at Paul Hastings LLP only to drop his newly formed firm after merging with T-Mobile U.S. Inc. sued T-Mobile for breach of contract in Washington federal court Thursday.
