A Detroit-area physician was sentenced to 45 years in prison and ordered to forfeit $17.6 million Friday after pleading guilty in Michigan federal court to giving patients unnecessary chemotherapy after purposely misdiagnosing them, for which he billed $35 million to Medicare and private insurance companies.
