Molycorp Inc. investors have asked a New York federal judge to approve a $1.25 million settlement to end claims that the bankrupt mining company and its executives misled them over certain business prospects, including a bid to modernize and reopen a long-closed mine in California.

A New York federal judge on Thursday dismissed claims against mining outfit Molycorp Inc. accusing the company and its executives of misleading investors over a bid to modernize and reopen a long-closed mine in California and other business prospects, saying the plaintiffs were essentially pleading "fraud by hindsight."
