Shands Healthcare told a Florida federal court on Wednesday it has reached an agreement with the federal and state governments as well as a qui tam whistleblower to end a False Claims Act lawsuit accusing it of submitting false Medicare and Medicaid claims for inpatient procedures.

Florida-based Shands Healthcare has agreed to pay $26 million to settle a whistleblower suit accusing the health care provider of submitting false Medicare and Medicaid claims for inpatient procedures that should have been billed as outpatient services, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Monday.
