A Florida federal judge on Thursday skewered a proposed settlement between Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurants Inc. and a former employee in a putative wage-and-hour class action, ruling that the agreement contains sweeping releases, a confidentiality agreement and various nonmonetary concessions that prevent its approval.

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurants Inc. was slapped with a proposed class action Wednesday in Florida federal court alleging it violated the federal Fair Labor Standards Act by forcing its hourly paid servers to work off the clock and denying them overtime wages.
