    The Eleventh Circuit on Wednesday vacated a $50.1 million default judgment in a suit accusing the Dominican Republic of breaching an irrigation contract, saying the nation should not be faulted for mistakes by a Miami consulate assistant who thought the complaint was improperly served.

    Dominican Republic Fights $50M Default Award At 11th Circ.

    The Dominican Republic asked the Eleventh Circuit to reverse a $50.1 million default judgment for two Miami-based companies alleging breach of an irrigation project contract, arguing Wednesday that the country did not waive sovereign immunity and that a consulate's mishandling of served papers was excusable.
