3rd Circ. Won't Rehear NJ Bid To Rescue Sports Betting Law
The Third Circuit on Friday declined to rehear the state of New Jersey's constitutional challenge to the federal law prohibiting sports betting in most states, affirming a victory for the coalition of professional sporting leagues that defeated a state law legalizing sports betting.

Georgia, Kansas, Virginia and West Virginia urged the Third Circuit on Monday to rehear en banc a recent panel decision striking down a New Jersey law legalizing sports gambling, saying the decision condones federal intrusion into state sovereignty by disregarding the anti-commandeering doctrine.

3rd Circ. Blocks NJ Bid To Legalize Sports Betting
In a win for the NFL and other professional sports leagues, the Third Circuit on Tuesday shot down a New Jersey law legalizing sports gambling, rejecting a constitutional challenge to the federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, which bans sports betting in most states.
