AU Optronics Corp. and two of its executives urged the Ninth Circuit on Friday to reverse a jury's verdict finding them guilty of price-fixing liquid crystal display panels and fining them $500 million, arguing that they didn't violate the Sherman Act because the antitrust conspiracy took place entirely in Asia.

AUO Appeal To Test Foreign Reach Of US Antitrust Laws
The Ninth Circuit will hear arguments Friday from AU Optronics Corp. and two executives trying to overturn their convictions for fixing the price of liquid crystal display panels, in a case experts say will give the appeals court the chance to establish how far U.S. antitrust enforcers can reach to tackle foreign conduct.
