Usher, HBO, Labels Settle 'Different Strokes' IP Claims
Usher, HBO Films Inc. and a host of record labels including Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment have settled a Illinois federal copyright infringement suit brought by the singer of the hit "Different Strokes" alleging they sampled the song without approval.

Usher, Public Enemy Sued Over 'Different Strokes' Samples
A record label and the singer behind the hit "Different Strokes" sued Usher, Mark Wahlberg, Public Enemy, Run-DMC, dozens of other artists and hip-hop groups, and several record companies on Tuesday, accusing them of copyright infringement by sampling the song without approval.
