A J.C. Penney Co. Inc. subsidiary has agreed to settle a class action brought by a former employee who alleged the company used the wrong formula when it calculated overtime wages paid as part of bonuses, according to a filing Friday in California federal court.

A California federal judge on Tuesday certified a class of employees of a J.C. Penney Co. Inc. subsidiary who sued the company for unpaid wages and miscalculated and unpaid overtime, ruling that the named plaintiff satisfied all the requirements for class certification.
