A Hilton Head, South Carolina, law firm agreed on Thursday not to buy search engine ads using trademarks of a local time-share company to siphon traffic to its website, ending a suit in South Carolina federal court, an attorney for the company said.

A South Carolina federal judge on Friday refused to disqualify attorneys for the operators of four Hilton Head time-share resorts in a trademark suit against law firm Naert & DuBois LLC, saying the resort attorneys' work defending the companies against suits brought by the firm over alleged fraud in their time-share sales practices didn't compel the move.
