Lawyers representing Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. in a trademark fight with Del Monte Foods Inc. have shot back at a request they be sanctioned, telling a New York federal judge on Tuesday that attorneys for Del Monte Foods "intimidated" a Florida retiree into agreeing to be deposed before he had counsel.

Del Monte Foods Inc. asked a New York federal judge on Monday to sanction Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP for interfering with a deposition in a trademark dispute with its onetime sister company Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc., blasting the firm for playing "hide-the-witness."
