Two patent infringement suits from Delaware Display Group against LG Display Group and Lenovo Inc. over alleged patent infringement of backlight technology reached a close on Monday when the parties told a Delaware federal judge they'd agreed to drop claims in one case and set the stage for dismissal papers in the other.

LG Display Group and Lenovo Inc. urged a Delaware federal judge Friday to throw out claims the companies infringed Delaware Display Group's LCD patents, arguing that despite years to put together their case Delaware Display has not provided evidence showing LG and Lenovo used its backlight technology in hundreds of their products.

LG Display Group pushed a Patent Trial and Appeals Board panel on Tuesday to invalidate as anticipated an LCD patent asserted against LG in Delaware federal court, maintaining the patent adds nothing novel to a similar 1997 patent.
