A New Jersey federal judge on Friday refused to let sandwich packager SK Food Group Inc. escape a complaint alleging it agreed to indemnify meat distributors who were sued by Starbucks Corp. for allegedly supplying tainted ham, saying the intent behind the agreement isn't clear.

Sandwich packager SK Food Group Inc. urged a New Jersey federal judge on Tuesday to dismiss the third-party complaint lodged against it by meat distributor Wellshire Farms Inc., who was sued by Starbucks Corp. for allegedly supplying it tainted ham, arguing the claim is excluded by a previous settlement.
