A Massachusetts federal judge on Friday threw out a suit filed by Zoll Medical Corp. alleging Philips Electronics North America Corp. infringed on a patent for a defibrillator, finding the issue had already been decided in a related lawsuit.

On the heels of a jury finding that both Zoll Medical Corp. and Philips Electronics North America Corp. infringed several of one another's defibrillator patents, Zoll lodged a new complaint in Massachusetts federal court accusing Philips of violating its patent for a hospital-grade defibrillator.
