Health Support Awareness Inc. is dropping its whistleblower suit in Massachusetts federal court against Pfizer Inc. over the pharmaceutical giant's marketing of its cholesterol drug Lipitor after the U.S. government declined to intervene in the case, the U.S. attorney's office announced Wednesday.

Health Support Awareness Inc. hit Pfizer Inc. with a whistleblower suit accusing the pharmaceutical giant of misbranding and promoting its statin, Lipitor, in deceptive ways that led customers to defraud Medicare, Medicaid and others, according to a lawsuit unsealed in Massachusetts federal court Friday.
