A Utah federal judge on Tuesday tossed an equal protection suit seeking to eliminate Alta Ski Area's snowboarding ban, saying the private company's skier-only policy on U.S. Forest Service land can't be challenged under the Fourteenth Amendment.

Utah-based Alta Ski Area was hit with a lawsuit in Utah federal court Thursday alleging that its snowboarding ban violates snowboarders' rights under the Fourteenth Amendment because the resort is located on public land.
