No New Trial For Parents Suing Abbott Over Birth Defects
An Ohio federal judge on Wednesday refused to grant a new trial to parents of a child born with birth defects who claimed that Abbott Laboratories Inc. didn't warn patients of the risks of its anticonvulsant drug Depakote, finding the jury wasn't given erroneous instructions.

Jurors To Hear Of Depakote Delay Link Despite FDA Block
Jurors considering claims that the anti-convulsant drug Depakote caused birth defects in a patient's baby will be able to consider evidence about developmental delays, a federal judge ruled Monday, despite the fact that maker Abbott was prevented from warning patients about such delays by drug regulators.
