A Missouri federal judge on Wednesday ordered the consolidation of two patent infringement and breach of contract lawsuits involving mobile payment service Square Inc. and a professor at Washington University in St. Louis who says he was a co-founder of the company, ruling that joining them would promote judicial efficiency.

A professor at Washington University in St. Louis hit mobile credit card processing company Square Inc. and its co-founders with a breach of contract and patent infringement suit in Missouri federal court on Thursday, saying he invented the company's signature card reader but was cut out of the startup.
