A Swiss company knowingly deceived U.S. consumers by claiming that its home pregnancy tests reveal how many weeks a woman has been pregnant when the tests deviate from the "universal" measure used by doctors, a New York federal judge ruled Wednesday.

A New York federal judge on Tuesday denied an attempt by the maker of Clearblue home pregnancy tests to toss rival Church & Dwight Co.'s suit alleging it made false claims about its test that estimates how many weeks a woman has been pregnant, finding that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's regulations do not preempt the claims.
