    A Florida federal jury on Wednesday found that a Florida man's now deceased wife's smoking-related death was caused by cigarettes manufactured by Lorillard Tobacco Co., and that she had relied on statements by Lorillard and other tobacco giants concealing smoking's health risks before she quit the habit in the 1970s.

    A Florida man fighting R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and others in an ongoing Engle trial over his wife's death argued Tuesday that the tobacco companies' statute of limitations defense doesn't hold up, saying his wife couldn't have known any sooner that smoking had caused her to develop chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
