The state of New Jersey and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey asked a federal judge on Friday to free them from consolidated putative class actions over Bridgegate, contending that plaintiff drivers have failed to adequately back up their claims of conspiracy and racketeering.

A federal judge in New Jersey on Monday consolidated two putative class actions against the state, Gov. Chris Christie and other current and former officials over an alleged conspiracy to close access lanes to the George Washington Bridge last September, which plaintiffs say violated their rights.
