A California court approved a $2.5 million class action settlement Friday against the owners of family entertainment chain Chuck E. Cheese's for claims it stiffed workers on overtime pay and forced them to work through breaks.

The company that owns the family entertainment chain Chuck E. Cheese's asked a California federal court on Thursday to take up a state court class action alleging it stiffed workers on overtime pay and made them work during rest periods, saying federal court is the more appropriate jurisdiction.
