Two Volkswagen Group of America units urged a Texas federal judge on Monday to toss a lawsuit brought against them for allegedly infringing patents for light-emitting panel assemblies, saying the allegations are so broad that they encompass "essentially every Volkswagen and Audi" vehicle sold in the U.S.

Volkswagen AG and Audi AG were hit with a patent suit in Texas federal court Monday by Innovative Display Technologies LLC, for allegedly infringing seven of its patents for light-emitting panel assemblies — mechanisms used to display speed and other information on car dashboards.
