A group of debtors who filed late tax returns urged the First Circuit on Wednesday to rethink a ruling that they couldn't discharge tax debt owed to the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.

The First Circuit on Wednesday found that people in bankruptcy who had failed to file tax returns on time couldn't discharge the taxes they owed to the Massachusetts Department of Revenue from their debt, cleaving to a similar ruling last month in the Tenth Circuit.
