An Illinois federal judge on Thursday freed United Airlines Inc. and its attorneys from a sanctions bid in a delivery contract row, saying the transportation services company that requested the penalty failed to properly offer United an opportunity to remedy the alleged misconduct before filing its motion, United counsel told Law360 Thursday.

Transportation services company BDP International on Friday urged an Illinois federal court to sanction United Cargo Inc. and its counsel in a row claiming United breached a delivery contract for a shipment that was ultimately seized by the government of Brazil, claiming they were making false allegations to prolong the suit.
