Pet food ingredient supplier Wilbur-Ellis Co. asked a Missouri federal judge Friday to toss a third-party claim for contribution by pet food maker Blue Buffalo Co. after it was hit by a false-advertising suit by Purina, saying the request fails because no direct injuries are alleged.

A Missouri federal judge on Tuesday refused to toss pet food maker Blue Buffalo Co. Ltd.'s claims against an ingredient supplier and an ingredient broker stemming from an underlying false advertising suit brought by Nestle Purina PetCare Co., telling Blue Buffalo to amend its complaint.
