CORRECTION: Software Maker To Shell Out $2M To End Upgrade Claims
The plaintiff in a proposed class action alleging that software manufacturer ZeoBit LLC tricks consumers into buying its utility software for Macintosh computers by creating error messages to scare them into purchasing upgrades asked a Pennsylvania federal judge Friday to preliminarily approve a $2 million settlement.

Software Maker Hit With Suit Over Scaring Users To Upgrade
ZeoBIT LLC, the maker of utility software for Apple Inc. computers, was hit with a putative class action Tuesday in Pennsylvania federal court alleging the software doesn't destroy viruses as it promises but generates false error messages to scare consumers into buying an upgrade.
