A Wisconsin judge on Thursday dismissed a proposed class action accusing Kohl's Corp. of violating federal law that prohibits businesses from sending unsolicited phone calls, saying the customer who brought the complaint must arbitrate her claims individually per the terms of the store credit card she signed up for.

Kohl's Corp. on Friday urged a Wisconsin federal judge to toss or compel arbitration of claims in a putative Telephone Consumer Protection Act class action accusing it of illegally tracking down tens of thousands of consumer debtors' cellphone numbers for collection purposes, saying the credit card agreement the consumers signed includes an arbitration clause.
