A Virginia federal judge dismissed a shareholder's putative class action alleging Apple Hospitality REIT Inc. directors set artificially high prices in a dividend reinvestment program, ruling that the program worked as designed and the lawsuit failed to properly plead any of its six class claims.

Apple Hospitality REIT on Friday shot back at a shareholder's lawsuit accusing the real estate investment trust of purposefully misleading investors and pricing shares above market value during a complex merger of several affiliated REITs, contending the complaint fails to make a single factual accusation.
